Nakavango High Five – Be A Volunteer!
Nakavango, a conservation programme that offers you the chance to get to know the other side of Africa. The unapologetic Africa that walks unarmed through a minefield. Probably one of the hardest won battles on this continent is that of the conservationist. Volunteers from around the world get actively involved in hands-on African conservation with people like Dean McGregor who have lived this life for decades.
Africa, the ‘mercury continent’ whose passion and fierce independence favour the strong in spirit is scattered with geographical blessings. Most notably, Mosi-Oa-Tunya, the Smoke that Thunders. A jewel in the conservation crown Nakavango rivals the best of international volunteer destinations. Experience this unforgettable expanse of Southern Africa with its extraordinary wildlife in a volunteer programme with serious clout.

"It is difficult to describe such a uniquely positive, inspiring experience. My favourite parts of the experience included taking Shungu’s (rhino) temperature, the African night sky, and learning so much from passionate people. Without a doubt, I would be interested in future experiences with Nakavango. The accommodation was well above my expectations and the team is very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable."

"This experience was completely incredible – wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved it! My favourite parts of the programme were the lovely people (staff and other students) and seeing the baby rhino. My least favourite part was only doing two weeks. The accommodation was amazing. It was perfect for the situation and had everything and more. The staff are incredible. Everyone was so hard working, friendly, organized and made everything great for us. The meals were wonderful – so much variety and food. I loved so many moments of this experience. Justine is such an important player here and works so hard for everything to be great for us and cared for everyone which made us all feel so welcome and part of the team. Dean was the heart of the days and his enthusiasm and knowledge made everything so interesting and fun. Thank you so much for everything."
