Testament to the outstanding service and camaraderie at the Nakavango Volunteer Centre, see inscribed notes of thanks from volunteers on the white washed walls of the verandah in permanent marker leaving little doubt that their experiences are second to none and beyond expectations.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the program. The perfect combination of work, downtime and information. Everyone was friendly, happy and fun to be around. The food was great and I appreciated the fact they made special preparations for those of us that have dietary issues. Some of the work was very physical, but again the youngsters dug in and I did what I could. I am very glad to have been a part of the conservation program. It certainly has opened my eyes to the problems and hardships of your country. Learn from the experience. You’ll only get out of it what you put into it. Work, learn and enjoy!”

“Volunteering in Victoria Falls has been absolutely amazing! I have learned so much about the people of Zimbabwe and so much about the animals here that has completely changed the way I view this country and Africa as a whole. It has truly changed me for the better and I can’t be more thankful for all of the people I have met.”

“I have never been happier in my entire life. Victoria Falls will surprise you every second of every day. The sky, the local people, the program, the animals, the other volunteers, the staff/local team, the experience– words really can’t do this experience justice. I have never felt so at home so far from home, and my biggest regret is having to leave. Four weeks wasn’t enough.”

“I was there for 3 weeks and I was definitely not ready to leave. It was the most rewarding and life-changing trip I have ever been on. I think from now on when I travel it needs to be in this way. Volunteering and travelling with a purpose. Thank you.”

“This is the best thing I have ever done. The accommodations were even better than expected, the team was very well-educated and excited to share their knowledge with the other volunteers, and the wildlife was even more beautiful and amazing than I had hoped. A piece of my heart will always be there, it became a home away from home. I cannot wait to go back to Nakavango! I got back home less than 24 hours ago and I’m already looking at plane tickets to go back!”

“I came to help you ended up helping me I will always remember the warmth of our Nakavango family. Special, amazing, incredible, doesn’t begin to express what you provided to the lucky people who share your world. Each day became better. The experiences are too numerous to mention. I have taken over 7500 photographs in 4 short weeks yet you have given me a lifetime of the most joyful memories. Nakavango is my home! The most beautiful somewhere in the middle of nowhere”

“Firstly, I would like to say I don’t think I’ve ever shovelled so hard in my life. It’s been an amazingly hilarious dirty and unforgettable experience and I have loved every single second of it. I’ll miss the family we’ve built and group naps in the A/C pool parties, drinking nights. Nakavango and especially Jarrod. Damian don’t snorkel too hard, Dean I didn’t die (HA!) and I’ll miss the banter. Justine, thank you for being the amazing person that you are. Ian thanks for the long talks and for teaching me so much. Lastly if I had my dog I could live here. Thank you Nakavango for the adventure of a life time.”
