OUR PURPOSE

“Making a difference through integration of Conservation, Education and Community”

The Nakavango Conservation Programme is based at Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve, the only “Big Five” reserve in the Victoria Falls region, and has been declared an IPZ (Intensive Protection Zone) for the population of Black Rhino we protect.  The reserve is a mere ten minute drive from the town of Victoria Falls, home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls.

The Victoria Falls is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and located within the largest conservation area in Africa, the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA). Volunteers from across the globe are provided the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in conservation management activities, research projects, environmental awareness, sustainability projects and community development projects. During your experience, your knowledge of nature conservation and African wildlife will be greatly enhanced through your dedicated volunteer guides. You will leave with a stronger understanding of conservation issues and the knowledge that you have made a real contribution to nature conservation and local communities in Africa.

Our volunteers are afforded the opportunity of exploring one of the most sought after destinations in the world – the awe inspiring Victoria Falls and surrounds. Your volunteer guide will provide a guided experience of the Victoria Falls itself, usually on the day after your arrival. During leisure time, volunteers can book one of the many activities available in Vic Falls including white water rafting, bungee jumping, crocodile cage diving, horse-back safaris, helicopter rides and much more!
